Terms of Service

In short

  • Parley has a Free plan you can use forever, plus an optional Pro subscription billed in USD through Stripe.
  • If a Pro subscription lapses, you get a 7-day grace period, then routes and glossary entries beyond the Free limit are frozen — never deleted.
  • Parley depends on Discord and on outside AI providers being up and working, so we cannot promise uninterrupted availability.

Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Parley, a Discord bot and companion website operated by {{LEGAL_ENTITY}} ("we", "us"). By inviting Parley to a Discord server, using its commands, or subscribing to Pro, you agree to these Terms on behalf of yourself and, where applicable, the server you administer.

The service

Parley relays messages posted in one Discord channel to one or more channels in a different language, translating them through a third-party AI (LLM) provider and reposting them under the original author’s name and avatar. Parley also supports glossary terms, tone instructions, and forum-channel mirroring, as described on our website.

Plans and billing

Parley offers two plans:

  • Free — usable indefinitely, with no separate trial period; the Free plan is itself the permanent trial. Free comes with fair-use limits on the number of translation routes, glossary entries, and translations per hour, as listed on our pricing page.
  • Pro — a paid subscription billed at US$9.99 per month or US$95.90 per year, processed through Stripe. Prices are shown in USD; at checkout, Stripe automatically converts the charge to your local currency and may add applicable taxes, so the amount on your card statement can differ from the USD price shown on our site.

Pro subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You manage your subscription — including cancelling, switching between monthly and yearly billing, or updating payment details — through the /parley billing command in Discord, which opens Stripe’s secure Customer Portal. We never handle your card details directly.

Cancelling, grace period, and what happens to your data

If you cancel Pro, or a payment fails and is not resolved, your subscription stays active in full through the end of the period you already paid for. After that:

  • You get a 7-day grace period during which your server keeps full Pro treatment while any payment issue can be sorted out.
  • If the grace period ends without the subscription being restored, your server’s routes and glossary entries beyond the Free plan’s limits are frozen — they stop translating — but nothing is ever deleted. You can choose which routes to keep active within the Free limit at any time.
  • If you resubscribe, everything is unfrozen automatically and immediately, exactly as you left it.

Refunds

Because service continues in full through the end of the period you have already paid for, we do not offer pro-rated or partial refunds for early cancellation. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us through the channels in the "Governing law and contact" section below and we will look into it.

No uptime guarantee

Parley depends on Discord’s platform and on third-party AI (LLM) providers being available and working correctly. We do our best to keep the service reliable, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability, translation accuracy, or that Discord or our upstream providers will always be up. Parley is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Parley to: violate Discord’s Terms of Service or Community Guidelines; send illegal, abusive, or harassing content through the translation relay; attempt to overload, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the service; or use the bot’s webhook messages to impersonate someone in a way intended to deceive. Note that Discord always marks Parley’s messages with an APP tag, so full impersonation is not possible — but attempts to mislead using the translated messages are still against these Terms.

Termination

We may suspend or remove Parley’s access to a server, or terminate a Pro subscription, if we determine in good faith that these Terms have been violated, particularly in cases of abuse, non-payment, or attempts to circumvent fair-use limits. You may stop using Parley at any time by removing the bot from your server or cancelling your subscription.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we will announce it through our official Discord support server before it takes effect. Continuing to use Parley after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law and contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, consistent with the jurisdiction of the payment-processing entity used for Pro subscriptions. For questions about these Terms, reach us through:
